I used to really be into my alexa rankings (years ago) but I kinda just let it slip out of my mind. The only real reason I use it now a days is to give info about one of my sites if I am selling or selling ad space on it. What do you use it for? Has it changed recently in the past few years? I know years ago it was very easy to manipulate your ranking.

Well I actually have a alexa mod installed for Mozzila... it's a little alexa bar in the bottom right of every website that displays its alexa ranking.

I use it to see how big sites are... mostly for curiosity.

I see. Since you see that alexa ranking on every website you go to, does the ranking give you a predisposed idea of the site?

For instance, most of my sites are not ranked very high on alexa - actually they are pretty bad. If you visited my site and saw the terrible ranking, would you assume it is an unreliable site and leave? Should I focus on making my alexa ranking better just so that people checking my rank see that my site is, in fact popular?

I have that same mod for mozzila and it also gives the PR of the site your visiting, so you can tell quite a bit about a site with this mod. I can't say I'd necessarily leave the site upon looking at the stats though unless I wasn't very appealed in the first place.

Yeah lol for one week, that is very impressive.

77,353 in United States now. Thats freaking excellent. I must say this forum has really taken off. Not just in the Alexa ranking but member activity as well. Good job mmelen.
