Do you custom code and design your own websites?

Postby Mission Environment on Sat Jan 05, 2008 4:13 pm

I try to custom code all of my websites, but I am only really familiar with html and to a lesser extent css. I also started about 5 years ago and never really kept up with the most modern ways to do things. So I have a little trouble myself. What about everyone else? I feel templates just cant get the job done regardless.

If you dont do your own websites, how much do you pay?

I know some html and can usually make what I want if I have something to go off of. I am currently looking to learn how to make my own proxy templates so that I don't have to keep the designers ad info in the footer.

Yeah it sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. If I have an idea of what I want to do, I can accomplish it. I run into problems when I verify my code to w3c, and also when I need to use extensive css. I also have problems with integrating pictures into the template of the actual site. I think once I generate enough revenue from my website I might redo a few of them professionally. It seems like its worth it. Think so?

W3Schools.com is an absolutly brilliant site for learning both html and CSS. Great info and great tutorials which you can edit and see what your changes did.
Its good for php (and other language) but not to the standard of the html and css parts.

I'm currently still using templates lol. I wish I could code my own but I'm no where near that level yet. I can do some HTML but that's about where the coding stops for me.

PS - Thanks for the site mentioned above me I checked it out and it seems rather helpful.

If it is solely HTML and CSS work that has to be done, then I will do it myself as I am fairly fluent in these. However, most of the time that I have coding work to be done, it involves some php in which case I end up outsourcing the entire project.

In the past I payed $400 for a fully custom admin panel for a website I had already coded in html. And I payed $60 to have a custom template made for http://www.reeracing.tv (the $60 covered the coding of the template which was already designed in photoshop).

i do code my own sites But not all of the time sometime i will use joomla on some projects. It saves a lot of time and custom components can be made and is very easy from no websavy admins/editors. as far as proxy sits go i do usually code my own. if you need help with a proxy home page you can PM me and i will try and help.

I think more than 90% of the proxy webmasters get free code and design for their websites.

Old proxy webmasters usually have a lot of proxy sites (network) so I think they prefer free.
